Market closes down with margin calls and hedge fund redemptions said to cause sell-off for liquidation. Fears abide concerning continuing and perhaps escalating crisis on hedge fund issues and bonds rolling over. Corporate, municiple and country debts cause nervousness.

Lottery Foes Go To Court (Times Record)

LITTLE ROCK — With early voting for the November general election starting next week, opponents of Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s proposed state-run lottery urged the state Supreme Court to remove the measure from the ballot Monday, arguing it does not define lotteries and could open the door for casinos.
