A new computer system at South Carolina Education Lottery retailers had glitches that caused it to misread some winning tickets as losers, frustrating players. A Japanese man was charged today with killing his girlfriend after she won more than $2 million in the lottery, Kyodo News reports. Kyodo says Jinichi Kumagai, 51, told investigators he did a “pitiful thing” in 2005 following “quarrels” with Hisako Yoshida, 42, over repayment of a loan. The Yomiuri Shimbun says police found more than $400,000 in the woman’s bank accounts after she disappeared. …
