LITTLE ROCK — With early voting for the November general election starting next week, opponents of Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s proposed state-run lottery urged the state Supreme Court to remove the measure from the ballot Monday, arguing it does not define lotteries and could open the door for casinos.

Five winning tickets had the correct numbers for Saturday Night’s Florida Lottery Fantasy Five game and one of the winners was sold here in Bay County.

BAY NEWS 9 — Lottery sales in Florida have declined in 2008, perhaps a results of the poor economy.

In a year in which the state is cutting back on spending, freezing pay and laying off staffers, Georgia Lottery CEO Margaret DeFrancisco received a $150,000 bonus. In all, lottery staffers received about $2.5 million in bonuses this year. DeFrancisco said the incentives are necessary to keep the lottery — which set sales records again this year — competitive with other businesses in the market …

The last ticket for the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Jan. 3 Millionaire Raffle was sold Saturday at 10:21 a.m. at McCunes News, 606 Central Avenue in Johnstown, Cambria County.

National Lottery operator Camelot has apologised after a technical problem disrupted ticket sales for a time on Saturday.
