Lottery Foes Go To Court (Times Record)

LITTLE ROCK — With early voting for the November general election starting next week, opponents of Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s proposed state-run lottery urged the state Supreme Court to remove the measure from the ballot Monday, arguing it does not define lotteries and could open the door for casinos.

Philip Dexter – Communications Head, COPE

One of South African opposition parties has warned against meddling with the country’s current fiscal policy. The warning comes as the ruling party’s election manifesto points to possible changes in the role of the reserve bank. The ANC break-away party, the Congress of the People, insists that the bank’s prudent fiscal and monetary policy is the way to go.
